Akola has the famous Agricultural University Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth Founded by Late Dr Gopalrao Khedkar (PDKV or PKV); which attracts students from far-off places for its Agricultural Engineering and Technology courses.

The university is well known for its 2nd biggest library in the Asian region. The University runs many Research and Development Projects for helping out the farmers to take more production from their farm. A mobile van with a Technical crew also helps the farmers in solving their day-to-day activity related problems. Help is also provided to the farmers on phone line.
